We had to put our beautiful dog Chewey down 11 months ago.  He was 17 1/2, a long time for a dog to live.  He was a great dog and he taught me a lot about many things.

One day while he was studying my wife and me (he did that frequently), I took a close look at him and realized something.  He only lives in the present moment.  He doesn’t lie around all day thinking about what happened or what can happen, he only knows the present moment.  All of life happens only in the present moment.  As Eckart Tolle says in his book, “The Power of Now”, the past is just a collection of a bunch of now experiences and the future is only a projection of possible nows.  And so I wrote a tune inspired by Chewey, my best friend, called “It’s Always Now”.  So, in honor of Chewey, I am going for a walk and relish all the now moments.

I think this is what Jesus meant when he taught us to pray, “Give us this day, our daily bread”
