This week we look at Matthew 6: 19-34.
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
No need for interpretation on this wonderful passage. Aside from the obvious, the following perspective also fits.
Jazz pianist Chick Corea likes to say, “you’re only as good as your last creative effort”. It’s human nature to hold on to things. This extends to ideas and thoughts as well. The creative mind loves to search for new paths but paradoxically when it finds one, will tend to store it for future reference.
If water is kept from flowing it becomes stagnant. This also happens with thought.
So Jesus challenges us to keep it flowing. God’s grace is always new and constantly flowing. Don’t get “hung up” on anything, especially anything tangible.

Chuck…I am always amazed to hear you play. I probably don’t mention that enough because I am usually thinking about 18 things. It’s an occupational hazard. You do an incredible job of riding the flow with your music…just what you are referring to…
