Happy 2nd Anniversary, Darkwood Brew! I’m so happy to be a part of this. If I’m getting this all wrong, please, no one tell me. It is an honor to write on Darkwood Brew.
I’ve always had a great love for music. I’m all over the place on genres. I have no musical talent though. No, really. I got the “spirit award” in high school choir. Wink. Wink. I love to sing in my car, and my contribution to the community is that my windows are rolled up and you can’t hear me. My connection to music and spirit usually comes to me when an artist can communicate and relate their emotion to me. The big connect for me is the match of lyrics to melody. Some songs dig down deep to my soul and I’m the girl who will listen to them over and over again.
I also love to share music. It’s a vulnerable gift, but I like to make music mixes for my friends and family. The connect is when they contact me and tell me how I really hit the nail on the head with the music selection and how they are feeling. So, I can’t sing, can’t play a musical instrument, but I can still gift music and make that connection with loved ones, and somehow, I’m convinced, through the spirit.
With that said, I’d like to make a shameless plug. I should fess up here – I have my own blog. Momontherocks.com is a quirky blog about the Seinfeld moments of motherhood. Somewhere in this particular post (click here), there’s a connect with music and gifts we share and connecting. I’m still in awe of the power of a simple gift in friendships. It just seemed like it fit here.
